Why and How to Rethink Your Ideas and Beliefs

When was the last time you cast aside your expertise, biases and existing opinions and rethought a belief, goal, vision or strategy?

If you're having trouble recalling that moment, this blog post is for you.

In this post, I'll explain why we must regularly rethink our approaches, views, and knowledge, and I'll share four ways you can spur productive rethinking in your daily life.

Let's start by understanding:

When expertise and confidence can be fatal

The first time I shot a photo was using a Kodak point-and-shoot film camera in the 2000s.

My uncle was a travel and photography enthusiast and owned a Kodak camera. These cameras were massively popular at the time. Almost every household had one.

I had long wished to be behind the camera, taking a photo, rather than being a subject in one. And one day, when I was old enough, my uncle finally let me use his camera.

I vividly remember pointing the camera at my newborn nephew and pressing the shutter button.

It was magical.

In one quick button press, I froze a real moment into a piece of paper that would last decades.

That moment etched the Kodak brand in my memory forever.

Ironically, fast forward to 2014, when I bought my first camera, it was not a Kodak.
