How to Find and Automate Your Low-Energy Tasks

Everyone has tasks they don't like or enjoy doing but have to do either out of obligation or because they're necessary.

I have, and still do, and we often surrender, thinking there's nothing we can do about it.

You may have done the same.

More often than not, doing these “critical” tasks leaves us drained and unsatisfied, which affects our ability to do other meaningful tasks well.

So, recently, I did an exercise to pinpoint tasks that bring me joy and put me into the flow state more often, and ones that don't, and then figure out how to take the draining tasks off my plate at least in a semi-automatic capacity.

In this blog post, I'll walk you through how I ultimately semi-automated some of these soul-sucking tasks that are not my core work using AI, and how you can retrofit the process to work for you.

Let's start with:

The auditing process

We can audit our tasks either by looking back or by observing how we work going forward.

I chose the former approach because I usually document what I work on through calendar events or task lists. And I can recall the rest from memory.

Choose the method and timescale that works for you.

Before I could start auditing, I needed a scoring system to sort my tasks and eventually find the ones worth automating or delegating.
