We spend our lives drifting through whatever comes our way on autopilot.
We go from one thing to the next without usually asking ourselves if what we’re doing brings us joy.
In this summary, we’ll learn how to align our intentions with our work and live a life of fewer regrets and more happiness.
Let’s start by:
Setting the Right Intentions
We’re usually happy when we’re living a life as we want to.
So, instead of living your life on autopilot and chasing an abstract dream of happiness, what if we took time to understand what work fulfils us?
What are the few things that you want to do before you die?
Maybe you want to write a book.
Maybe pursue a career in cooking.
Or, maybe you’d want to serve your community or run a charitable organisation helping the needy.
Take some time to understand what you feel like you were put in this world to do.
But, here's the thing:
This is different from a regular bucket list since this exercise is more about finding your life’s intention or Ikigai rather than making a random list of things to do before you die.
For me:
It’s writing and being able to help people get better at their work and life.
And that is why I’ve put myself on a track to gradually but definitely transition from the software development field to the world of writing and content creation.
